Gallery “Gremi” is situated in the private residence on Anglyskaya embankment 52. The ground where the house is situated belonged to the outstanding figure of that epoch A.M.Golovin. Having replaced a number of owners, in the end of XVIII century it has passed to Olga Aleksandrovna Zherebtsova, a native sister Platon Zubov - a favourite of the empress. Catherine’s death has changed all. Soon after the accession to Paul's I throne exactly in this house was gathered conspirators, here solved complicated political questions. In 1800 the house has been sold to Yakov Alekseevich Potyomkin, the general, afterwards the hero of the Patriotic war of 1812.

In October, 1831 one of the apartments of the house was rend by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin with a young wife Natalia Nikolaevna. During the lifetime of Potyomkin the private residence has passed to its mother-in-law, a secret adviser Briskorn.

After her death the Strukovs, children from first marriage, owned the house till 1917. It is known, that Briskorn wanted to change the facade from the embankment side but something has prevented to her plan. Today it is one of the oldest facades. It is done in XVIII century and is typical for that time. The central part is hardly visibly stood out against a portico with pilasters of the Corinthian order and completed by a small pediment where always the family emblem of the owners was placed.
